AS Monaco claims 40 million euros for Chelsea target Aurélien Tchouameni

AS Monaco would have imposed a price of 40 million euros on the 21-year-old French international Aurélien Tchouameni, a target for Chelsea.

According to a renowned Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Chelsea now knows how much it will have to pay to secure the services of Aurélien Tchouameni. AS Monaco are claiming 40 million euros for the 21-year-old French international, who has not yet been officially prosecuted by the Blues.

Aurélien Tchouameni has made giant strides since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. Over the past 18 months, the youngster has established himself not only as a regular at the principality’s club, but also as a key figure for them, having made 58 appearances at the Louis II stadium, scoring four goals and as many assists along the way.

His progress also helped the 21-year-old make his breakthrough with the French national team, the player having recently made his breakthrough internationally. Moreover, his exploits have been noticed by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, one of his potential suitors being Chelsea.

Chelsea’s interest is understandable, given that N’Golo Kante is on the wrong side of the 30s and has also been bogged down by a myriad of fitness issues lately. Moreover, Saul Niguez’s future is uncertain at Stamford Bridge, and it is unclear whether the Blues will make his time at the club a permanent one.

While Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour have impressed on loan at Chelsea, one cannot be sure that either gets their big chance at the West London club next season. With that in mind, it’s not too surprising to see Chelsea follow in the footsteps of the 21-year-old.

Chelsea now know how much they will have to pay to secure Tchouameni’s services, as AS Monaco are unwilling to sell him for less than € 40m. While the price isn’t high, Chelsea have yet to approach the Ligue 1 giants over a move for the France international.

It now remains to be seen whether Chelsea will confirm their interest in Tchouameni anytime soon and whether they are ready to live up to his valuation of € 40million. For now, the 21-year-old continues to strengthen for Monaco, having been ubiquitous in midfield so far this season.
