Bespoke McLaren Speedtail combines two very special colors

The Beverly Hills McLaren dealership is about to take delivery of one of the craziest Speedtails we’ve ever seen.

McLaren introduced a dealership-ordered Speedtail on Wednesday, and it features a livery matching the design McLaren used for a 2018 Speedtail prototype. It is one of the latest examples of the 106-unit race of the Speedtail, and is adorned a fade starting with Ueno Gray at the front and Magnesium Silver at the back.

Magnesium Silver is the shade used for the McLaren F1 on its 1992 Monaco Grand Prix debut, and subsequently featured on numerous automotive magazine covers. Ueno Gray, on the other hand, matches the color of the Ueno-sponsored F1 GTR that won the general classification of the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. And those lines on the car? They represent the optimized airflow pattern, according to McLaren.

Wondering how long it took to paint the car? Well, the response is over 12 weeks, with all the work being handled by McLaren’s MSO customization department.

McLaren Speedtail “Albert”

McLaren calls the car Albert. This is the nickname used by McLaren for the Speedtail prototype with the same livery, and comes from Albert Drive in Woking, UK, the street on which is the original facility where F1 was designed and built. Today, this facility houses MSO.

If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can get a close look at the car as it will be presented at the Sunset GT cars and coffee event taking place at O’Gara Beverly Hills on August 8. make an offer, however. The car is already sold.

McLaren calls the Speedtail the spiritual successor to F1, because it was designed as a grand touring car rather than a track car. It even has a three-seater layout with the driver sitting in the center, just like in F1 … and the future GMA T.50, aka Gordon Murray’s own spiritual successor to the F1 he designed.

The Speedtail’s power comes from a hybrid setup that combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and a single electric motor, with a drive sent to the rear wheels only. Maximum power is 1,055 horsepower and 848 lb-ft of torque, which will allow the Speedtail to reach 250 mph.
