F1 cancels Russian Grand Prix, which was the most-watched race last year on ESPN

The Formula 1 race was scheduled for September 25, 2022 – then Russia invaded Ukraine

Formula 1 (F1) canceled the 2022 Russian Grand Prix after Russia invaded Ukraine. The race was scheduled to take place on September 25.

Disney/ABC Sports had yet to choose which network the Russian Grand Prix would take place on: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2 (or, we assume, the ESPN+ streaming service), a person with knowledge of the plans told TheWrap. For the past few years the Russian Grand Prix has been shown on ESPN2 – and last year it was the most-watched Russian Grand Prix (here in the US). (It was do not, however, among ESPN2’s most-watched F1 races of the year. The 2021 Russian Grand Prix placed eighth out of 10.)
