Lorient vs. AS Monaco 08/13/21 Ligue 1 Picks, odds and predictions »Sports Chat Place
Lorient welcomes AS Monaco at the Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir stadium during the 2nd day of French Ligue 1. Lorient narrowly escaped relegation last season, but his preseason and start to the season are positive. Monaco enjoyed success in the Champions League qualifiers, but failed to win in their first game of the season in Ligue 1.
Lorient finished last season in 16e up with 42 points, and their defense was one of the worst in the league with 68 goals conceded, but their offense was decent with 50 goals scored. As for their preseason, Lorient has not lost any of their 5 friendlies, and they are now undefeated in their last 8 games. In their first game of the season against Saint-Etienne on the road, Lorient had 39% ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corners, 2 big chances created and 75% correct passes. It was a tough game, but Lorient took the lead in the 52sd minute. Unfortunately for Lorient, they conceded a penalty in the 70se minute, and they conceded a goal. This match ended in a 1-1 draw. Le Goff is Lorient’s only goalscorer in Ligue 1 so far this season. There is no easy schedule for Lorient or easy games for that matter, but I see Lorient in the battle to avoid relegation this season as well.
Monaco are undefeated in their last 3 games, and in my opinion they are one of the favorites to take the title this season. In their Champions League qualifier earlier this week, Monaco played Sparta Prague at home, and they were the better team with 60% possession, 10 shots on goal, 1 corner kick and 83% correct passes. After winning the first leg 0-2 away, Monaco have just confirmed their place for the next leg with a 3-1 home win. At the start of the Ligue 1 season, Monaco were playing very well against Nantes at home, and they have been in the lead since 14e minute, but that match ended in a 1-1 draw. Gelson Martins had a solid game, and he is now Monaco’s only goalscorer in Ligue 1. Lecomte and Isidor are injured for Monaco, Diatta is questionable, while Maripan is suspended because of yellow cards. I think Coach Kovac could rest some players in this game, but Monaco are still a good team with solid depth, and they need a win here to stay in shape.

Lorient haven’t lost in their last 8 home games, and in their last 8 games overall, but their last home win against Monaco dates back to 2010. Monaco are the best team here, and they will be dominant in this. match, and I see them win their first victory of the season in Ligue 1.
