Mick Schumacher to sever ties with Ferrari Driver Academy after 2022 season

Mick Schumacher is about to end his stay with the Ferrari Drivers Academy at the end of 2022, with many speculations that he will leave his turn with the Haas F1 Team after this year Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Schumacher joined the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) in 2019 after the German won the FIA European Formula 3 Championship, and they oversaw his move into Formula 2 FIAa championship he won in 2020.

He then joined Haas for the 2021 season, although his rookie campaign saw him battling at the bottom of the pack against his then teammate. Nikita Mazepin as the team turned their full attention to developing the 2022 car.

He suffered some high-speed, high-profile crashes during the 2022 season as he tried to find the rhythm to match his new team-mate. Kevin Magnussenespecially during qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Schumacher finally scored his first points in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship when he finished eighth in the British Grand Prixthe German almost taking seventh place as he fought Oracle Red Bull Racingit is Max Verstappen at the line.

He then followed that result by finishing sixth in the Austrian Grand Prix, but he hasn’t improved on fourteenth in any of the three races since. He currently sits fifteenth in the Drivers’ Championship heading into the final eight races of the year, ten points and four places behind Magnussen.

Before the summer holidays, Schumacher’s name was one of those linked to the vacancy Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team sits in place of his mentor Sebastian Vettelbut this seat has followed the path of Fernando Alonso.

There remains an outside bet for a passage to the BWT Alpine F1 Team in place of Alonso, but he could also end up outside inside, especially with Antonio Giovinazzi related to his replacement at Haas. If he were to lose practice, it could see Formula 1 having no German driver on the 2023 grid.
