Princess Charlene shares her first family photo since returning to Monaco, Easter 2022

Princess Charlene has recently kept herself out of the spotlight. The royal returned to Monaco in March after an extended stay at a Swiss clinic where she was treated for “exhaustion, both emotional and physical”, according to a statement her husband Prince Albert gave to People in November. However, her return to the country did not mean a return to public life, with the palace announcing that “In order for Princess Charlene to make a full recovery and still need peace and quiet, The princely couple therefore request that their privacy and family environment continue to be respected.”

Since then, little has been seen of the princess. (She was recently notably absent from Prince Philip’s memorial service, which Albert attended) but on Sunday she posted a new photo to her social media to celebrate Easter – a poolside family portrait of herself, of Prince Albert, and their 7-year-old twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella in springtime shades of white and beige.

“Happy Easter,” Charlene simply captioned the photo, along with a heart emoji.

The portrait marks the first new family photo of the Monegasque royal family together since August, when Albert and the children traveled to South Africa to visit Charlene. At the time, the princess was still in the middle of an enforced stay of several months in the country, where she had been forced to stay after an ENT infection prevented her from flying. While Charlene initially traveled to South Africa in May 2021, she only finally returned to Monaco last November.
